Stable communities stay together. And staying together creates something priceless. It's called "neighborliness". It's the most valuable asset a community has.
The Homeowner Exemption for Long-term Properties (HELP) program helps keep neighbors together. It discounts property taxes for homeowners who are experiencing rapidly increasing property values.
Are you making less than $65,000 a year?
Have you lived in your home for 10 years?
Did you purchase a home through a non-profit agency 5 years ago ? (See Section 5, (2), there's more.)
If you answered "yes" to these questions, you're half-way to qualifying...

Now, let's see if your property qualifies. This is for Class 2 real estate. In layman's terms, houses, 2-flats, even up to 6 units.
Also, your assessed value must have increased 150% since the last assessment. Your property won't qualify if it is worth $300,000 or your remodeling increased the assessed value by $45,000.
You can file for this exemption at the County Assessor's office. Or you can print the form here.
